  • Prepare the Cable:
Strip the Cable: Use the coaxial cable stripper to remove the outer insulation of the LMR-200 cable. Typically, you need to strip about 1 inch (25 mm) of the outer jacket.
Expose the Shielding: Fold back the braided shield or foil shield over the outer insulation.
Trim the Dielectric: Carefully trim the dielectric (the white or foam insulation surrounding the center conductor) so that approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) of the center conductor is exposed.
  • Prepare the Connector:
    – Check the SMA female connector for its crimping specifications, which usually include a crimp ferrule and a crimp pin.
  • Insert the Cable:
Crimp Pin: Slide the crimp pin onto the exposed center conductor of the cable, making sure it makes proper contact with the conductor. Some connectors may require you to solder the center pin to the conductor before crimping.
Crimp the Pin: Use the crimping tool to crimp the pin securely onto the center conductor. The crimping tool will press the pin down, ensuring a solid connection.
  • Attach the Connector:
Crimp Ferrule: Slide the crimp ferrule (often a metal sleeve) over the folded-back shielding and onto the connector.
Insert the Cable into the Connector: Push the cable (with the crimped pin) into the SMA female connector until it’s fully seated.
Crimp the Ferrule: Use the crimping tool to crimp the ferrule onto the shield and connector. This ensures that the shield is securely connected to the connector and provides a good ground connection.
  • Inspect the Connection:
    – Check that the connector is firmly attached and that there are no visible gaps or loose parts.
    – Ensure that the cable is fully seated and that there are no shorts or exposed wires.
  •  Test the Cable:
    – If possible, test the cable with a network analyzer or similar device to ensure proper functionality and that there are no issues with the connection.

This SMA female connector is designed for crimping onto LMR 200 cables. It ensures a secure and stable connection for high-frequency signal transmission, ideal for telecommunications, networking, and other professional RF applications.
