  •  Expose the Shielding**: Carefully pull back the braided shield to reveal the dielectric insulation. Trim any excess shielding to ensure it fits neatly inside the connector.
    Strip the Dielectric**: Strip the dielectric insulation to expose the center conductor. The length of the exposed center conductor should be around 1/4 inch, but follow the connector’s specifications for exact requirements.
  • 2. **Prepare the Connector**:
    Slide on the Ferrule or Sleeve**: If the TNC female connector has a ferrule or sleeve, slide it onto the cable before inserting the cable into the connector. This ferrule will clamp down on the cable’s shield to provide a good connection.
    Insert the Cable**: Insert the prepared end of the LMR 200 cable into the TNC female connector. Ensure that the center conductor aligns with the center pin of the connector and that the shield is correctly positioned to make contact with the ferrule or sleeve.
  • Crimp the Connector**:

    – **Crimp the Center Pin**: Insert the center conductor into the center pin of the connector. Use the crimping tool to crimp the center pin onto the center conductor. Make sure the conductor is fully seated in the pin before crimping.
  • Secure the Connector**:
    – **Check the Fit**: Confirm that the connector is securely attached, and that the ferrule and center pin are properly crimped. Ensure that there are no loose or misaligned components.
    – **Inspect the Assembly**: Double-check that the center conductor and shield are properly connected and that there are no gaps or loose connections.
  • Assemble and Insulate** (Optional):
    – **Apply Heat Shrink Tubing**: For additional strain relief and insulation, slide heat shrink tubing over the joint and apply heat to shrink it tightly around the connector and cable.
    – **Inspect**: Ensure that the heat shrink tubing is properly applied and that everything is aligned correctly.
