  • Prepare the Cable:
    – Strip the Outer Jacket: Use the cable stripping tool to remove about 1.5 to 2 inches of the outer jacket from the LMR 200 cable. Be cautious not to damage the underlying braided shield.
    – Expose the Shielding: Pull back the braided shield to reveal the dielectric insulation. Trim any excess shielding to ensure it fits properly inside the connector.
    – Strip the Dielectric: Strip the dielectric insulation to expose the center conductor. The length of the exposed center conductor should be around 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
  • Prepare the Connector:
    – Slide on the Ferrule or Sleeve: If the UHF female right-angle connector has a ferrule or metal sleeve, slide it onto the cable before inserting the cable into the connector.
    – Insert the Cable: Insert the prepared end of the LMR 200 cable into the UHF female right-angle connector. Ensure that the center conductor fits into the center pin of the connector and that the shield aligns with the ferrule.
  • Crimp the Connector:
    – Crimp the Ferrule: Use the crimping tool to crimp the ferrule onto the braided shield of the cable. Make sure the crimp is tight and secure, creating a solid connection between the shield and the connector.
    – Crimp the Center Pin: Use the crimping tool to crimp the center pin of the UHF female right-angle connector onto the center conductor of the cable. Ensure that the center conductor is fully inserted into the pin before crimping.
  • Assemble and Insulate (Optional):
    – Check the Fit: Ensure that the connector is firmly attached and there are no loose parts. The center pin should be well-aligned, and the shield should be securely crimped.
    – Apply Heat Shrink Tubing (Optional): For additional insulation and strain relief, slide heat shrink tubing over the joint and apply heat to shrink it tightly around the connector and cable.
  • Inspect the Assembly:
    – Verify Connections: Check the crimped areas to ensure they are clean and well-formed. Ensure that the center conductor and shield are properly connected.
    – Test the Connection: Optionally, test the assembled connector with appropriate equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and there are no signal issues.
