  • Prepare the Cable:
    – Strip the Outer Jacket: Use the cable stripping tool to remove about 1.5 to 2 inches of the outer jacket from the LMR 200 cable, exposing the braided shielding underneath.
    – Expose the Shielding: Pull back the braided shield to expose the dielectric insulation beneath it.
    – Strip the Dielectric: Carefully strip the dielectric insulation to expose the center conductor. Avoid nicking or damaging the center conductor.
  • Prepare the Connector:
    – Slide on the Ferrule: Before attaching the connector parts, slide the metal ferrule (sleeve) onto the cable. This ferrule will be crimped onto the braided shield later.
    – Insert the Cable into the Connector: Carefully insert the cable into the UHF right-angle connector, making sure the center conductor fits into the pin of the connector, and the shield aligns with the ferrule.
  • Crimp the Connector:
    – Crimp the Ferrule: Use the crimping tool to crimp the ferrule onto the braided shield. This secures the shield to the connector and ensures good electrical contact.
    – Crimp the Center Pin: Use the crimping tool to crimp the center pin onto the center conductor of the cable. Make sure the center conductor is properly inserted into the pin and crimped securely.
  • Check the Assembly:
    – Inspect the Connection: Ensure the connector is firmly attached, and there are no loose parts. The center pin should be well-aligned, and the shield should be securely crimped.
    – Test the Connection: Optionally, test the connection for continuity and signal integrity to ensure it’s working correctly.
